Privacy Policy

Last Updated: January 8, 2026

1. Introduction

Tadacity ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our browser extension, command-line interface (CLI), and associated services.

2. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide our services:

  • Account Information: When you create an account (where applicable), we collect your email address and authentication credentials.
  • Capture Definitions: We store the "recipes" or extraction rules you create. These include target URL patterns, data structure definitions (field names, list structures), and selectors (e.g., XPath). These are stored in our cloud infrastructure to enable syncing across devices and, in the future, public sharing.
  • Usage Analytics: We collect limited telemetry on how you interact with our services (e.g., CLI usage frequency, extension interactions) to improve performance, debug issues, and understand feature adoption. We do not collect the content of web pages you access or the data extracted from them.

3. Data Processing: Local vs. Cloud

A Core Architectural Principle

Tadacity separates capture definitions (cloud) from data extraction (local). Sensitive web content never leaves your machine.

What Stays in the Cloud

  • Capture Definitions: The extraction rules you create (URL patterns, field names, selectors) are synced to our cloud infrastructure. This enables cross-device access and supports our future public sharing feature.
  • Account Data: Your email, authentication credentials, and account settings.

What Stays on Your Machine

  • Web Page Content: The CLI fetches web pages directly to your local machine. Our servers never see the HTML, JSON, or any content from the pages you access.
  • Extracted Data: All data extraction happens locally via our CLI. The results stay on your machine and are delivered directly to your AI tools through a local MCP (Model Context Protocol) connection.
  • MCP Communication: The connection between your AI tool (e.g., Claude Desktop) and Tadacity is a local loopback connection. No data passes through our servers during this exchange.

Important: Tadacity is not a web crawler, monitoring service, or data warehouse. We provide on-demand data extraction tools—the actual web content and extracted data remain local to your environment.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our services.
  • Sync your capture definitions across your devices.
  • Authenticate you and secure your account.
  • Communicate with you regarding service updates or support.

5. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third parties who assist us in operating our service (e.g., cloud hosting providers). These providers have access only to the information necessary to perform their functions.
  • Legal Requirements: If required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities.
  • Public Capture Definitions: All capture definitions are currently public by default. This means the structure of your captures (URL patterns, field names, selectors) may be visible to other users. The actual web content extracted from pages is never shared by our servers. In the future, we will introduce discovery features that allow users to find and reuse public capture definitions.

6. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your account information and capture definitions. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. You can manage your account and delete your capture definitions through the CLI or our web interface. Upon account deletion, your capture definitions will be removed from our servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy on our website and updating the "Last Updated" date.
